FAT Dummy Models
The US Side Impact Dummy (US-SID) was adapted from the Hybrid III 50th Percentile Male Test Dummy to provide human-like acceleration responses in the lateral direction when testing automotive side impact crashworthiness.
US-SID was developed by the Highway Safety Research Institute at the University of Michigan, under contract to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Modifications and test procedures were made by Calspan, with further enhancements by the Vehicle Research and Test Centre.
US Side Impact Dummy – Hybrid III (US-SID H3)
