Introduction to Oasys PRIMER September 2025 (online)

An introduction into the Oasys PRIMER pre-processing software for those who have not previously used the programme. Workshops are run throughout the course which use the Oasys PRIMER software.

The online format will run as a series of 3-hour sessions over three consecutive days. The online course will be run using Microsoft Teams.

  • Session 1:    Tuesday 16th September – 09:30-12:30 BST
  • Session 2:    Wednesday 17th September – 09:30-12:30 BST
  • Session 3:  Thursday 18th September – 09:30-12:30 BST

Attendees must attend all three sessions to complete the course.

If you are no longer able to attend a training course once a place has been reserved for you, please let us know so we can cancel the reservation.  The majority of our online classes are free and we receive a lot of interest for them so we want to ensure we can accommodate as many requests as possible.

We reserve the right to decline requests from customers that repeatedly fail to attend reserved courses.

Course Outline:

Oasys PRIMER is an LS-DYNA pre-processor developed to help users build robust models and solve the problems engineers face in their daily lives.

This course provides an overview of using PRIMER for setting up and navigating LS-DYNA models. The menu system will be explained, and mouse and keyboard controls and shortcuts explained. As most core functionality will be covered, after the course users will be able to confidently use PRIMER to produce quality LS-DYNA models.

Workshop examples are used to demonstrate how to work around the software together with a PowerPoint presentation.

  • How to read and write models
  • How to navigate around the software
  • How to investigate model contents
  • Core Oasys PRIMER tools, such as model checking
  • Introduction to more advanced features, such as mass balancing and connections.

For Who?

This course is recommended for those who have not previously used Oasys PRIMER.

This training course is provided free of charge to Arup’s Oasys or LS-DYNA clients on a first come-first-serve basis.
