Staged Construction Analysis in LS-DYNA

Webinar description
This webinar covers the tools available to set up Oasys LS-DYNA models for Construction Stage Analysis. Construction stages offer an alternative to ‘wishing in place’ all parts at the start of an analysis, allowing stresses and displacements of certain parts to form and settle before bringing in or removing parts later in the sequence of analysis. In this way, construction stages can be used to represent the ‘as-built’ state more accurately, and to check the stability of the incomplete structure during construction. Stages can be run as a sequence in a single analysis, or broken into a chain of separate analyses enabling optioneering without needing to rerun the whole sequence.
An example of construction stages for a building might include excavating soil, laying foundations, allowing for settlement/heaving of soil, constructing the superstructure, allowing for redistribution of stresses under self-weight, construction of non-load bearing items, then running of any subsequent analyses e.g. a seismic analysis.
Aside from civil/structural engineering applications, construction stages can be used in any analysis where parts need to be added or removed in a certain sequence. This webinar will be suitable for anyone interested in learning about what construction stage sequencing can offer.
