Webinar description
In this webinar we explore the options available in the Oasys LS-DYNA Environment for the analysis of EV battery systems. As the automotive industry moves towards electrification, new demands are placed on simulation software to help designers and engineers create battery systems that integrate efficiently and safely within the vehicle structure. New features are also available in Ansys LS-DYNA to model the electromagnetic phenomena at cell level, via the Randles circuit capabilities.
We are excited to announce a new Battery Set-Up Tool in Oasys PRIMER and we showcase how to expedite the creation of cell models and guide the user through the stages of model creation.
We demonstrate how Oasys software and the Ansys LS-DYNA solver can be used to address many of the loadcases required by the battery regulations. These include mechanical shock, mechanical integrity, thermal shock, and random vibration.

Key highlights:
- Electrification Demands: Meeting new simulation requirements and safety regulations (e.g., UN ECE R100, GB/T 38031-2020).
- New Ansys LS-DYNA Features: Electromagnetic modelling at the cell level using Randles circuit.
- Battery Set-Up Tool: Oasys PRIMER tool for rapid cell model creation and guidance.
- Loadcase Solutions: Demonstrations on addressing mechanical shock, integrity, thermal shock, and random vibration with Oasys and Ansys LS-DYNA.
Speakers – Sarah Chams Bacha and Simon Hart
Sarah has a background in electrical engineering. Over the last 3 years, she has worked on enhancing existing features in Oasys PRIMER such as the Seatbelt Fitting and Crash Test Setup Tools and implemented the Battery Setup Tool.
Simon joined Arup in 1994 and currently leads Arup’s Product Engineering Practice. He has extensive experience in the use of Computer Aided Engineering in vehicle design and manages consultancy projects for Arup’s automotive clients. Simon works closely with the Oasys LS-DYNA team to provide a link between the development of digital products and their application on projects.
